Kokomo Professional Fire Fighters:
We Do More Than Fight Fires
The Kokomo Professional Fire Fighters are first on the scene
of all of your emergencies, including fires, medical calls, car
accidents, hazardous material spills and various forms of extreme
rescue, such as building collapse and water rescue. Other services
include building inspections, carbon monoxide investigations and
fire safety education.



City Government Has Cut
Fire Department Resources TOO THIN
After the city administration’s recent decision to lay off 12 fire
fighters, the Kokomo Fire Department is now responding to your
emergencies with a total of 21 LESS fire fighters than it had just a
year-and-a-half ago. With such drastic cuts, fire fighters will be
unable to maintain the same level of service. Citizens can expect
delayed response to fires, medical calls and other emergencies. In
an emergency, minutes, even seconds, can mean the difference
between life and death.
Hardest hit will be the southeastern and
southwestern parts of the city — which is troubling since
high-occupancy buildings such as theWalnut Creek apartments,
Westbrook apartments and new library are all located in those
areas.



Annexation Almost Sure to Stretch Resources
THINNER
Over the next two years, the city is set to annex 14 additional
square miles. While Kokomo’s professional fire fighters will be
proud to provide services in the new area, fire fighters are
concerned because they are already lacking in resources (ie fire
fighters). This means emergency response times could increase
even more.
Support Your Fire Fighters.

Tell them the safety of you and your family is crucial. Tell them
